User entitlements

User entitlements determine the level of access a user has when using Universal Online Banker. Access levels include accounts, functions, and data.

  • Account access determines which of the available accounts and account functions a user has access to, such as the ability to perform transfers for one account and initiate wires from another.
  • Function access determines granular workflow entitlements by payment type or feature the user has access to, such as the ability to only view stop payments, view and delete ACH authorization rules, and view, create, modify and delete wires.
  • Data service access determines which of the available data services the user has access to, such as special reports, uploads and downloads.

About Account Access

A user must be entitled to account access in order to perform tasks using the account. Unless a user is given full entitlements, each account a user is to have access to along with the level of access must be defined when entitlements are granted.

The features available for the account, and to the user, are dependent on a number of factors.

  • Accounts – Feature/function access for the individual accounts for a company are defined by the financial institution. If a feature is not enabled by the financial institution, it is not available to any user in Universal Online Banker. For example, if Transfers is not enabled for an account by the financial institution, the option is not available when defining account entitlements for that specific account.
  • User Access to Accounts – To perform functions for an account, users must be granted access to the account and the account features. Options include giving a user full entitlements to all accounts, full entitlements to some accounts, and custom access to some accounts. Full entitlements are granted using either the Create or Edit User pages. Providing access to individual accounts, whether it is full access or custom access, is defined using the Set Up Account Access option on the Entitle User page.
  • User Access to Account Functions – When access is granted for account functions, those functions must also be granted to the user in the Set Up Functional Access section of the Entitle user page. For example: A user is granted access to US Wire for Payments when setting the custom options for an account. The US Wire for Payments functional access must be defined for the user on the Edit Functional Access page to determine whether the user is able to view, create, edit, or delete US Wire payments.

About Functional Access

Functional access entitles a user to the different types of activities in Universal Online Banker, such as activities for a specific type of payments. For example, a user can be entitled to view, create and edit US wire payments, but not delete the payment.

It is important to enable each function the user needs in order to complete their banking activities. If a function is granted for an account, the function must also be granted when defining functional access.

Note: The features available to a company in Universal Online Banker are defined by the financial institution. For example, Bill Payments is only available if enabled by the financial institution.

About Data Service Access

Data services are defined by the financial institution for your company. You can grant users access to the services that have been made available to a company. Examples of data services may include services such as, special reports, uploads and downloads.
